As the elected chairman of Airedale & Bradford Out On A Limb I speak on behalf of all the members when we welcome your interest in the support group.
We need as many people as possible to help the group organise the activities and fund raising that will enable the various types of support that is always required to be given especially in this time of cutbacks and rising costs.
Whether you are a recent amputee, have been previously attending a Rehabilitation Unit or the partner or carer of an amputee we would really like you to be included in our endeavors
We are already supported by The Keighley Town Council Acorn Grant (£250) and have received two other grants for £1000 and £5000 from Bradford Adult Services to help finance our activities for 2011 but these will only apply for this financial year so we must concentrate on fund raising to establish ongoing finance for the future.
We have been extremely lucky to obtain these grants in the current economic situation and further support has been given.
In 2011 we were introduced to Irwin Mitchell a national firm of specialist solicitors who support a number of charities and the Leeds office have decided to support our group by providing Printing Facilities which we are able to use for our information packs and more recently for our Sponsored Walk posters & forms. They have also given some financial donations.
In 2012 Keighley Town Council provided money from their Oak Fund to help with our sponsored walk expenses in recognition of the support our group gives to amputees.
Although there is a serious side to the things we would like to achieve it is just as important to help provide some social interests so that we can all help each other to continue to enjoy ourselves.
We will be holding a social evening at least every two months and expect to organise a number of outings to places of interest as chosen by the members.
The object is for those who are on the up to encourage those who are feeling down.
Our other pages and literature explain what we are about in more detail so please continue and consider joining with us in supporting the amputee community.
